Double Wins for Thomas

On your marks

At the 2016 Oxy Invite in Los Angles California, Mikel Thomas was able to successfully complete the straight double winning both the 110mh and the 100m.

After several recalls by the starter the race was finally off. Thomas had a commanding lead from the gun but wasn't able to get into his rhythm clipping a few hurdles along the way. He won the event in 13.57, his second race of the season and from the looks for it there's a lot more in the tank.

"There was a lot of confusion going on in the beginning with the starter and officials but once we finally got going I still wasn't able to put together the race I wanted. but its early and thats what these runs are for, opportunity to address and move forward." Said Thomas about his hurdle race.

In the 100m Thomas was out like a rocket and lead the race unchallenged from start to finish and won the event in a seasons best of 10.29, his 2nd best time ever.

"The 100m is still new to me, its a different sensation compared to the hurdles and I'm learning as I go. Content for now, I definitely could go a lot faster but we have health and strength so we press on" Thomas comments after his race.

Mikel is set to race next at the Guadeloupe Invitational May14th before returning to Trinidad and Tobago for the TTGG Athletics invitational on the 21st. Both races he will be featured in his signature 110mh.
